A Jump Start to My Career

When I discovered the Chris Economaki Junior Journalism Award, it was just what I was looking for. I used to write for fun but never had any place to showcase it. In late May I got the call saying I had won the award. And in June, the dream became a reality with a trip to Indianapolis for the U.S. Grand Prix. I learned so much and met so many great people. I met the motorsports journalism icon, Mr. Economaki himself. It was an honor to be sitting next to him for dinner and dissecting the day at the track. I also met Scott Speed, a current F1 driver for Scuderia Toro Rosso. Afterwards I decided to pursue my own writing career further and I recently got a job writing for motorsport.com on various series. For any aspiring young writer, I encourage you to enter this contest.
